Restoration & Transfer

A close-up of an audio transfer machine

Audio transferring is the conversion of older audio formats (such as vinyl records, reel-to-reel tape, or cassette) to modern formats (digital files or CD).

At Acoustik Musik, we are proud to offer audio restoration services in addition to transferring. In a nutshell, audio restoration involves the “cleaning up” of old recordings to make them sound clearer and more listenable than before.

Convert analog format to digital. Acoustik Musik offers audio transfer services across a wide variety of formats.

Vinyl: Our turntable is a Micro Seiki DDX-1000 with a Micro Seiki MA-505 Tone Arm and a selection of phono cartridges. Our RIAA phono preamp is a PS Audio - Stellar MM/MC Phono Preamplifier. The turntable is mounted on a 75 pound combination granite and extruded aluminum platform with Sorbothane hemispheres for isolation. We use a Benchmark ADC-1 for conversion to the digital domain.

Cassettes: For cassette transfer we use a Tascam 122 MKII cassette deck.

Reel-to-reel: Our tape decks are an Otari MTR-10 with speeds of 7.5 ips, 15 ips and 30 ips and a Tascam BR20T with time code.

We have both dbx type 1 and 2 and Dolby noise reduction type A, B, and SR capabilities.

We use our arsenal of outboard gear and digital software to breathe new life into your old recordings. The Acoustik Musik, Ltd. studio offers the finest monitoring environment, signal path, high-end digital processors and the best plug-ins including the new RX-10 Noise Reduction software from Izotope. Pops, clicks, and hisses can all be removed, even problematic coughs or cell phone sounds from live recordings.

We deliver your newly clean audio in the digital format of your choice. Whether you prefer a CD or just downloading the files directly from the cloud, we can get them to you quickly. We can also provide a DDP for replication if needed.
